SoundUK is a project dedicated to creating “aural landscapes that connect the creator, listener and music with the world around us” – now they have commissioned Dubstep pioneer Shackleton to produce three tracks related to two iconic Devon train journeys.
Shackleton has partnered with the enigmatic Vengeance Tenfold to produce the tracks. The ‘Sonic Journeys‘ commissions responses by artists “to specific stretches of landscape that inspire them on various journeys taken by foot, train and other modes of transport in rural and urban locations”.
The two train journeys run along two different lines. One follows the First Great Western mainline (famously engineered by Brunel). This journey starts at the seaside town of Dawlish Warren (pictured). The other follows the Tarka line to Barnstable.
The Tarka line is named after the Otter from Henry Williamsons book Tarka the Otter. The line follows the River Creedy, the River Yeo and the River Taw for parts of its route.

I really like the idea of this project!
